RECONSTRUCTION OF ORGANISTRUM

Reconstruction of the rebec of  the" Tríptico of the Monastery of Stone " of Saragossa, Spain, but that at present is played, with the same morphology, in the north of Greece and Turkey where it is named a " Pontos's lira ".

To date Antonio Poves, musician, musicologist and researcher into old music and its instruments, has reconstructed several different “organistra” (plural of the Latin word “organistrum”) found in Spain, focusing mainly on those previously unstudied, such as the “organistrum” of the Portico de San Miguel of Estella and the “organistrum” of the Monasterio de Piedra of Zaragoza. The latter is to be found, nowadays, in the Real Academia de la Historia de Madrid (Royal Academy of History, Madrid) where it has been since the last third of the 19th century.

Work in progress on the reconstruction of the “organistrum” of the Monasterio de Piedra of Zaragoza, remade by the author with the invaluable help of Javier Serrano.

Work in progress on the polychroming of the “organistrum” of the door of San Miguel of Estella (Navarra), carried out by Jesús Ukar Muruzabal, (member of the Cultural Association).
